  5. New York Giants, who compiled a lifetime batting average of
  6. .341 and was the last National League player to hit above .400
  7. in a season (.401 in 1930); in Jacksonville. A left-handed
  8. hitter who rarely struck out, Terry spent his major-league
  9. playing career (1923-36) with the Giants. As manager, he won
  10. three pennants and one World Series title (1933).
